Incentives and Assurance For Investors Print E-mail

The SDC is realistic in ensuring that potential domestic and foreign investors benefit from uptrend phase that the state is experiencing. To ensure that policy meets with execution, a competitive package of incentives is being developed for investors as a means of spurring growth and injection of domestic and foreign investments.

To complement the focus on agriculture development, the SDC will be offering startup-up grants and funding to raise the bar further in this high-value sector. In addition, the Agri-Business Accelerator Programme presents customised packages designed to attract SMEs and agropreneurs to benefit from the SDC.

For tourism, special incentive packages will be offered to attract like-minded private sector investments into this service-oriented sector. This may include easier access to financing sources and tax exemption for import on spesific bulding materials, among others.

Investors in the manufacturing area can look forward to highly attractive incentive packages whih are being formulated by the SDC. This will be complemented with business set-up facilitation guarantees which inter alia may include easier access to raw materials and pioneer status tax exemption.

These incentives will go hand in hand with provision of space for set-up and green field site development which also take into account future expansion plans of investors. In addition this will be complemented by th direct injection of human capital which is supported by numerous ministries, departments, agencies and statutory bodies that contribute towards human capital development in Sabah.

The Sabah Economic Development and Investment Authority (SEDIA,meaning 'readiness' in Malay Language) will ensure that investors in the identified high priority sectors have one point of contact to obtain necessary approvals, expatriate employment pass and available incentives for set-up. SEDIA will also ensure that infrastructure and logistic projects are timely executed thus enabling business to flourish in Sabah. There will also be an open and continuous communication channel back to the Government via the one-stop investment authority for structured feedback from the business community on policy, incentives and infrastructure requirements.

This preview of the customised incentives and the plan of the implementation authority through the SDC Blueprint provides stakeholders and potential investors with a larger view and a taste of the bright future that lies ahead. We look forward to joining hands and collaborating with you in Sabah.
